I have backed my database to a disk device. The device contains 5 appended backup files for the database. Could I selectively delete some of the appended files? For example, keep appended 1(the oldest version) and 5(the latest version) and remove the appended 2 to 4. Thank you very much

Hi,
As I understand it then you can't do this. Deleting the file deletes all of its contents.

nope.
use separate files so you have total control on what stays and what goes away
