Delay startup of APP Server until SQL Server comes online?

  • Twice this month i've been called in at ungodly hours of the night due to users not being able to see their web content and getting errors like "ReportMsgProducer.processReport ...some path xxx.rpt processing timed out after 900 seconds."

We have a WebSvr, AppSvr, and DBSvr.

All this happens after MS Auto Updates and reboots. After the servers have been auto shutdown/rebooted I check that all the WebSvr services are started on the WebSvr and they are. However, as soon as I restart the WebSvr it fixes everything. Could the WebSvr be coming online before the db server and causing this issue? Can I delay the App and Web servers reboot process to give the db server time to get online?

  • Sure, I can help you with that. Here's what you need to do.
