I will need to use a unique instance name. Do i first need to install SQL 2005 using the Default Instance name, than install using my unique Instance name?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Kerry

no.
If you install a default instance, its name will be the servername
(servername\mssqlserver)
You can install a named instance without having a default instance.
