Hello,
I have this project to decommission this development SQL Server, I have this another SQL Server already running, I am adding another drive to this machine, and want to transfer the stuff from Dev Swerver to this new drive,
Can I please get some important steps I shuold keep in mind or I need to notify my development team, I am asked about thse 2 questions too,
1. How to make database backups – using standard tools from Enterprise Manager?
2. Where these backups should be placed (backup destination)?
3. How many databases can be backing up at the same time?
Please Advice,
Thanks,
Dev

One way to transfer data from one server to another is to backup the databases on the old server and restore the databases on the new server.
To backup databases in Enterprise Manager you can setup a database maintenance plan that will use whatever schedule you set to backup your data.
How many you can backup at a time is often dependent on the size of the databases. If they are small then you can backup many. Large databases will depend on how they are setup and your system.

As mentioned above, create a maintenance plan to backup all databases to your new drive and don't worry about it.
The backups run sequentially, but they tend to run quickly.
