Hi I'm a beginner in MS BI Tools,
Can anybody explain the difference between Derived Column & Copy Column Transformations in SSIS Data Flow Task.

The Copy Column transformation well, copies columns :), while the derived column transformation can also copy columns, but also manipulate the data in existing columns using functions or generate new columns using either functions or existing columns or a combination of both.

Both transformations can add new columns,
Copy column tX can add new columns only through existing columns but coming to Dervived column tX it can add new columns without any help from existing columns.
Derived tX can assign different transformations and data types to the new columns whereas Copy tx cannot.
Derived tX supports error output whereas Copy tX cannot.
