We are currently going through the SS2k/Oracle question (see thread related to Oracle/SS2K). We're looking at migrating a 1.2TB database from DB2 to SS2K or Oracle. Has anybody got any tales to tell relating to this much data on SS2K?
The database will be a reporting/OLAP database with, on average, 20 concurrent users. The initial load will be done via bcp over a weekend.
Daily updates will be applied by running SQL (updates, inserts, deletes) generated at the production DB2 database equivalent, ftp'd to the SS2K box and run via osql - maybe via SPs if I can automate the process.
We're also using updateable views to get around the lack of partitioning in SS2K - which is causing some problems.
Would like to hear any feedback, comments, experience etc
Thanks
Andy
