  Good morning-

  If I want to run the Tuning Advisor using a trace file, do I have to run it on the same server that the trace was taken from?

  You can run from a client machine also. but you have to run against the server where the trace was taken from.

  Hi,

  You can run on a separate server from source, which is the better option to minimize impact to your main server. Here is a good document for reference:
