DB Mail - Not working - SMTP

  • Getting below error while using db mail. Is this because of Port 25 not enabled or firewall enabled?

    The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 1 (2010-08-27T07:46:43). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated).)

  • This may be an authentication error as the error message indicates. To test firewall and port issues use ping and telnet.

    If you can telnet to the server port you will then need to know whether the server requires authentication and whether it is configured to relay messages on your behalf.

    Talk to your mail admin if possible.
