DATE Datatype issue

  Hello Friends, ..I am working on a column and want to give ""DATE"" datatype not the ""Datetime"" for that particular column but I don’t see that DATE datatype in the datatype list. I am trying to achieve this via SSMS and I also tried with TSQL but no luck ..getting an error message that not a valid datatype. Could you guys please help… This is sql 2000 environment…..Please help

  The DATE data type was introduced in SQL 2008. That's why you can't find it on your SQL 2000 database.
