I find this QOTD annoying as it ends up implying that DATETIME is somehow superior to DATE when it isn't.
It has taken Microsoft a long time to add DATE and TIME data types to SQL Server. These Data types don't do +1 as this is meaningless. What does the 1 represent ? How can you add an integer to a Date ?
I really would like DATETIME to be deprecated although I know this isn't likely mainly because of its prevalence.
