I had one server that had i-don't-know-what in the Application log, as gladiator says. Everything is fine with EM, but the log problem is sort of... I can see System and Security logs from local or remote Computer Management but when I click on the Application log it sort of empty. Moreover, if after that I click on Security or System logs it says that there is no items to show.
So I right-clicked Application Log entry in Event Viewer part of Computer management and clicked Clear All Events. Now I can see entries in all logs, App log contains only new entries as expected.
Gladiator, is your SQL Agent working OK? It has to read from Event Log for Alerts.
