Database setting upon creation

  • Hi.. What should be considered in setting the autogrowth and initial size of each file upon creation?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to capacity planning.

1- Estimate how much space will be needed after one year.

2- Set data files to a size that can easily accomodate one year worth of data.

3- If you are a fan of autogrowth option then set autogrowth to a specific size rather than a percentage - would be nice to have it set to a size that can accomodate three month of data growth.
