I want to restore a 400GB (used 25GB unallocated 375gb) database that there is in production into test but I only have 100gb of disk in test. I do not want to shrink the production database, back it up and later reallocate 300gb.
Is there a way to restore allocating less space?

I am not aware of any native tools that will allow you to do that. However, check out: http://www.hyperbac.com/ which does allow you to do what you are looking for.
