DataBase Restore Problem

Does this help? Because I have no idea what you are trying to ask with this question:

According to this i restore 1st DIFF #3 then DIFF #2 after this DIFF # 1

then actually what happen lost any date or successfully restore All data?

    I have no idea either.

Please re-read my post above. I've edited it a bit for clarity. Then can you try to re-post your question more clearly ?

    Hi,

i try to answer your question.

as you see in the example backuplist there is allways a Fullbackup to restore as the first step.

    Restore FULL with no recovery

    Restore DIFF#3 with no recovery

    restore t-log #7, #8 with no recovey

    restore t-log #9 with recovery

if you restore 1st DIFF #3 theres no way back to DIFF #2 without first restore the Fullbackup.. trying this gives you an error..

The answer is. You have only the data from your last succsessfull restored backup. there is no first DIFF3 and then DIFF2 restore without a Fullbackup restore

    regards

  • It appears you are saying that you restored the 3rd diff backup, then the 2nd diff backup, then the 1st diff backup....that is just not right. I've never tried that but it is just wrong. The restore process should be a full backup first. Then if you have differentials you should restore the latest differential...in this case the 3rd one. Then you would restore any TLog backups to restore to the most current state. If you had incrementals then you would restore multiple incrementals but they would be in the order they were created so in your case 1st, 2nd, then 3rd incremental followed by the TLog backups. Using norecovery all along the way until the last TLog restore to bring your Database to the most current state.

  • Thanks a lot..........
