  Hi

  When setting up mirroring, I've chosen not to add a witness server

  Is it possible to add a witness server after mirroring has been initialised and change the mirroring operating mode to Automatic Failover?

  yes, it is possible. Are you using the mirroring GUI or T-SQL?
