Database Maintenance Plans - Backup Transaction Log

    I created a backup plan through the Database Maintenance Wizard and had it include a backup of the transaction log every couple of hours during the business day.

    In looking at the plan, I don't see the option for "Remove inactive entries from transaction log" that you get when you setup a backup by right clicking on the database and going the the All Tasks -> Backup Database route.

    Do I lose this ability if using the Database Maintenance Wizard?

    Nope. It does tht in the background due to its nature.

    The backup database doesn't affect the log. The backup log will clear out the changes in the log and allow that space to be reused.
