Hello,
I've being having trouble backing up a DB on 2005 that was restored from 2000. When i try to backup the particular DB i'm getting the following message
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The backup of full-text catalog 'DB1' is not permitted because it is not online. Check errorlog file for the reason that full-text catalog became offline and bring it online. Or BACKUP can be performed by using the FILEGROUP or FILE clauses to restrict the selection to include only online data. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
When i check the physical files location and status one is offline
sysft_DB1D:\SQL\FT\DB1 OFFLINE
Can someone please advise me on what this sysft_DB1 is and why it tells me it exists? And further more either remove it or switch it online so i'm able to complete my backup.
Cheers 🙂

How did you restore your backup from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005? Did you re-populate full text catalog after restore?
Please check what should do in full text catalog in SQL upgrage. May the following link help?

Yes we moved the DB from a sql2000 environment to SQL2005. I have to admit i'm a little lost to what to do to either re-enable the Full-text or disable it.
