DataBase Email

  • Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first

It appears this relates so SSL. I have the box marked in my account set up. After setting up the account it seems like it kicked it turned it off after setting up the account and restarting SQL server agent, SO I selceted it again and restarted sql server agent then checked the sysmail_server table and it is set to 1.

I am using database mail on several other server with out a problem all of the them are using and SMTP mail server that is hosted by someone else.

looking at the net the best I can find is that this is and IIS issue and I need to delete that default web site which appears to be related SSRS.Which is not currently installed, I am wondering if someone installed it in the past and it is left over, therefore causing the problem.

    THANKS in advance!!

  • Just in case anyone runs into this problem uninstall IIS.Then go to Sql Mail and delete the profile and account, make sure it is completed deleted. Restart SQL server agent and then recreate a new profile and account.

Not exactly sure what the conflict is but it works non the less.

    Good luck
