SQL has one built in, which you can get to by creating the database diagram in the database diagram under the database object in SSMS.

Visio, Sybase Powerdesigner, sure if you do a search on Google (other search engines available) you will be able to find more.

I recommend Toad Data Modeler.

Just about any UML tool can help you create logical models.

I also use Toad Data Modeler. In addition, I don't know if newer versions of Visio support ERDs that well, if at all.

Yes, they do, in the Premium Edition.

Good! Does that also apply to Visio 2010?

HAH!! Yep - that is about all I use for "logical" modeling too! 😎
I have used Embarcadero's ERStudio for probably a dozen years now. Incredible capabilities, and if you purchase a SQL Server only license it is very reasonably priced for the functionality it brings to the table (pun intended). 😛

Be aware that the SQL Server database diagram is a live representation of the database. If you drop a table from the diagram it is dropped from the database, so use this tool with care. It can be safer to stick with the cocktail napkins and beer coasters, plus using a phone camera to capture significant versions.
