HI ,
Im currently working on E-commerce website and just wondered whether to have two separate database for website and webservices layer (business process layer). I hope in this way we can separate two different business process and achieve greater control. let me know your thoughts on this.

Might not be a bad idea. I haven't tested something like that, but it would seem that it would allow for easier scale-out.

If they might need to scale to separate servers, I might. Otherwise, not sure there's a benefit. You could use a schema for security, multiple disks for performance.
