  What method of access to SQL server 2000 databases are you using for web apps?

  1. Create standard login + encrypt password for access

  2. Create application role + encrypt password for access

  3. Other accepted methods

  We are trying to create standards at our shop for accessing SQL server

  Databases via web applications written primarily in JAVA.

  We're planning to go with option 1.

  Application roles have to be set every connection.
