Data source connection error

  hi,

  i am creating report for first time, and when i try to establish connection to data source ,it gives me error

  "A network related or specific instance error occurred while establishing a connection to sql server.The server was not found or not accessible.Verify that instance name is correct and sql server allow remote connection.(Provider :Named pipes provider,error:40 - Could not open connection to sql server)

  any help plz?

  i tried to disable firewall, i have windows 7.

  Are you developing on the same machine as the report server is on?

  Are you connecting to a remote SQL Server or one on your local machine?

  Can you connect to the SQL Server using SSMS?
