Hence the reason it's best to call PSS when doing that.
I still think the best solution would have been to do a backup prior to the upgrade and then after the corruption occured to simply do a restore of the backup.

Backup. Yes, I agree. This is one of those situations where we should have done a much better job here. Having said that, if you are an SQL Server user who has read this far, do yourself a favor and set up a backup job (remember to activate SQL Server Agent) for all of your critical SQL Server databases. I've learned the hard way that this is best. Now, it's done and I'm sure there will be opportunity to thank myself in the years to come.
