Hi,
Data Profile Task is very useful for analysis. But it only accepts ADO.NET connection.
What should be done if the one needs a data profile for a source which is not of type ADO.NET say Oracle or any other data repository.
Kindly advice.

I don't think you can use any other connection besides ADO.NET:

The solution: buy another product :-D:-P

Not sure I understand how you'd consider this a Microsoft monopoly.... ODP.Net is provided by Oracle.

I think he was referring to my comment where I stated that the data profiling taks, according to BOL, only works with ADO.NET and with SQL Server 2000 or up. And that if he doesn't like that, he should buy another product 🙂

Heh, I guess so. In that case, you're spot on - buy another product. I remember evaluating a product to perform exactly what we get in SSIS (data profiling-wise), but the sticker price was significantly higher than even an 8 CPU SQL Enterprise license.
