Hi,
Basically, we have a 24/7 database on the MS SQL 2005 cluster. Last week, the cluster failed due to the NIC fault. The service was stopped for almost 4 hours. The penalty is heavy. My manager want to add another layer to ensure the availability of service, such as logging data mirror.
I just want to check whether anyone here has adapted such technology and could share some experience.

Log shipping or data mirroring. You can have either one of them with Clustering.
Check this earlier post http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic453480-146-1.aspx
Kimberly Tripp has 2 webcasts talking about data mirroring with very good Q & A.
I have tested all the 3 methods for data mirroring with clustering. The set up is pretty straightforward.
Need be aware of that database failover could happen faster than cluster failover, which may not the result as you expected.
