i am using dashboard reports...sql experts please current me if am wrong...we are performing a loadtest and i can only use dashbaord reports..no other tool..so wat i do is i take reports for every 15 mins..i compare two reports...like for example- Performance - Top Queries by Total CPU Time report...if for the particular id the CPU time is more can i say that , that particular query is taking more time...i also take report for I/O..can i ignore the units in which it is recorded and just compare two reports and come to the conclusion that so and so qurey is taking more I/O and more CPU time...please correct me and guide me as always ...thanks..

If you truly are limited only to dashboard reports, it sounds like you're on the right track as to how to use them.
On the other hand, why would you be limited only to dashboard reports? If you're going to be held responsible for server performance, you need a lot more tools than that. If you aren't given access to the correct tools, you really can't be responsible for that. If you aren't responsible for it, why even bother with dashboard reports. Do it right, or don't do it.
If some boss is insisting that it has to be that way, and insisting on holding you responsible, use the reports till you can get a job with a company that won't force you to fail.

thanks for responding...i mean this is just for testing the load on the database...like before deploying a db in prod we test on UAT..so inorder to get the reason for cpu spikes or memory consumption we use this...so from my previous post ..is my assumption and the way i was doing ..is that right..thanks again..

For that purpose, I wouldn't use dashboard reports at all. I'd run a trace, and analyze the CPU use, IO stats, etc., while filtering for that particular database. That'll give you very, very exact data, and it's pretty easy.
But, if you want to use the dashboard reports, yeah, it sounds to me like you're doing the best you can with them. They won't give you exactly what you're looking for, but using them the way you ask will give you an approximation.
