Damaged Database

  • DBCC reported consistency errors on one of the tables in our data warehouse database. The problem was corrected and the data restored, but I would like to prevent these type of errors. Other than a failure of a disk drive or controller, what can cause the types of errors that DBCC reports? What steps can I take to minimize these problems? We are already using RAID 10 for Our data warehouse data files. I thought this would protect us from consistency errors.

  • If you don't have SP3, cancelling a bcp operation can also generate consistency errors.
