  I am trying to get a better understanding of the current activity - process info listing.

   

  I notice that some of my applications are having some queries listed even though they are not running....their status will be 'sleeping'.

  Is this normal?

  If not, what could be the cause?

   

  If it is normal, why?

  It's normal.  The current activity window will show all current SQL Server connections.  So even though your application may be done running the query, it sounds like it still has a connection open.  It also shows the last query that the connection ran.
