Hi
perhaps you can explain why you believe performance is slow?
some more information from you may assist others to help you
what version of AS?
How many data sources?
How many fact tables?
How many dimensions?
how many calculated members?
etc
please dont take this as a defintive list...just a few pointers to help others with your request.
Kind regards gah

ok...I am assuming you are using a pivot table with AS as the data source?
so with 20 million rows, what are you trying to acomplish with excel?
perhaps a little more information on the data?
types of measures
type of dimensions...are any based around "time"
how many rows are you expecting to pull back in a dimension in excel?

i am trying to create a report to known the total gross sales accros all market-media-region -agency for 5 years
September 20, 2010 at 2:02 pm
Q...is this a cube you have designed or one that someone else has designed and you are accessing?
how many records in the "market-media-region -agency " dimension?
assume you are trying to do something like this in excel:
Gross_sales
year 1year 2year 3year 4
market 1media 1region 1agency 1100150175200
agency 220023050150
region 2agency 350080015001200
agency 4etc
region 3etc
media 2etc
market2etc
How long does it take for your results to return to excel?

the cube is not designed by me.i an just creating the report out of it..but there asked me to take a look at the cube and try optimize it.It Takes around 30 mins to open it

30 mins to open!?!?! whoa. No offence but 20MM rows isn't *that* large. It's actually spot on for the recommended partition size for SSAS (depending on your version). Do you have any aggregations set on the partition/s?
Steve.

i have only one partition and it size is 600 mb and I am working on 2008 version and also i have aggregation set to 50% with the storage mode as MOLAP
