Cube Goodies

  • Random question.

I've worked at a lot of places where different team members randomly bring in goodies for the team. It occurred to me to wonder...

What are your favorite cube goodies? Is there a particular one you look forward to when you know teammate X is going to bring something in?

  • A former colleague's mother was a chef before she retired (She's the one that compiled this book for charity[/url]). So to keep herself busy, she now bakes and continuously gives my former colleague cakes. So, pretty much weekly, he would bring in a home-made cake that tasted awesome (I particularly enjoyed the coffee cake). We don't really do anything like that in my current job, which is a shame.

  • A few of my coworkers organize office parties a few times of year. We'll order in for Cinco de Mayo, decorate for halloween and Christmas. And then there's the Christmas party they organize - everyone is expected to bring something (homemade or store bought) or contribute money for supplies and then it's a full day party. Someone normally brings bagels, pot luck for lunch and dessert.

Plus people will bring bagels for the office on at least monthly and we almost always have cake for coworkers birthdays.

On the downside, it's really difficult to manage your weight with so much food around the office.

  • This time of year, some kind of rhubarb coffee cake. Fall, zucchini bread, including chocolate z. bread. Recipes available upon request. My birthday, I bring a real buttercream or whipped cream cake from Clasen's http://www.clasensbakery.com/ -no supermarket Crisco cake allowed. Christmas time, cookie exchange. Bagels when the boss is feeling flush. --Nina
