Hi guys, i have been trying to install sql server 2005 enterprise edition on a win xp pro notebook.......
but somehow it's not detecting the default instance of a previously installed sql 2000.
I then uninstalled sql 2005, with the intent of adding a new name instance on a fresh install but i don't see an option that allows me to do that.
any help will be greatly appreciated :):)
thx

Hi,
SQL 2005 Enterprise edition is not supported in Win XP machines. You can refer the below link for supported operating systems.

If you really need Enterprise on XP, use a VM. The software is free and you can set up a VM with W2K3 and SS2K5 Enterprise.
Otherwise use Developer edition of SS2K5. It has all the features of Enterprise.
