I'm an one man technical staff for a small (100 person) office which has used an Access Database for 10 years. The current Database has gotten very complicated and on the verg of crashing. I want to move over to an SQL backend with an Access front end, but all my attempts to use migration has failed, due to the complexity of my Access Database. So I need help a blueprint or easy to understand instruction on starting from scratch to design a SQL Back end to an Access front end (only because that is all I have, and my agency will not invest in other programs).
The reason I need to use Access is for ease of use for the Mangement Staff here. The primary use of the Database of tracking Adherence, Leave, Training, Skill Assignments, Call Logs, Monitoring, etc. At present each Supervisor has a copy of the front end Access database, which has been designed to show ONLY their staff.
I Appreciate any direction which will guide me to the structure and development of this project.

What version of Access are they using? That may affect what you want to do.
I built and operated a complex application with SQL in back and Access on the front for about 7 years. Worked quite well.
Are you getting a specific error on the upgrade wizards? Or just, it finishes, but the end result isn't what you want/expect?

Thanks for your response. I have Access 2007, and SQL Express 2005. I started this project many months ago, then got engaged & then Married..... so I dropped that project until I got settled in with the new wife. Now I'm starting over to get this done. The original attempts to convert the old Access failed at many levels, and many functions did not come over. I've since decided to start from scratch because that ten year old Access needs some real cleanup.

Starting from scratch sounds like a reasonable idea.
Take a look at what the Import Wizard in SQL Management Studio might be able to do for you, at least as far as getting tables set up. That's where I'd probably start.
