creating a Link Server

    I have created a link server for my reporting server to access production server, my developer is asking me to create another link server with different name for the same server, is it possible,

    Please Advise,

    Example :  I have server A and B, both A and B are having link server created,

    Can i create A1 and B1 another link server, do I have to create an SQL account with enough access,

    Without knowing why they wanted a Linked Server in the first place, I'd resist creating a 2nd one.  What are they doing with it?   What SQL instances do the reporting servers' data sources point to now?  And why would they need a linked server to do that?
