Hello,
I do know we can not create DTS packages in Management Studio. I do have a reference for that in Pro SQL Server 2005 Page 511.
I am currently taking a free SQL Server 2005 course from Microsoft Learning website: "Course 2937: Administering and Monitoring Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2005 " which claims in overview of Object Explorer in Management Studio that I can use Object Explorer to perform a number of tasks including "Create Data Transformation Services (DTS) packages."
I would like the confirmation that I am correct that we can not create DTS packages in Object Explorer (Management Studio 2005) before I submit it to the eLearning support.

If you install the dts components in the feature pack then you can maintain existing DTS packages in management studio but you cannot create new ones.

Thanks David. I was of the same opinion. Even if it was a typo and the course materials mean SSIS not DTS you can not create an SSIS package in Object explorer too (except for Maintenance Plans), we create packages in Visual Studio.
