Hi, The scheduled back up of my transaction log is failing because the log file is failing a crc check. (OS Error 23)
I tried to backup the transaction log manually but ran into the same error.
It's not throwing an error writting to the log and I guess this has been going on for awhile because teh transaction log is got fairly large (for this db).
How do I recover from this? If I have to, can I simply delete the LDF? It's will be easy for me to ensure there are no users on the system at the time.
thanks for any advice.

Well I answered the question myself, NO I can't just delete the transaction log. Fortunetly for me a complete chkdisk managed to correct the issue, I only had to wait for a shut down opportunity.

OK this has resulting in another question. I successfully backed up my transaction log but the file size still shows as 350mb. Space used is only 20mb.
I went into the shirnk files individually and told it to shrink it to 40mb. It reported that it shrank it but the file still shows as 350mb in the file system.
What am I missing in this picture?
