CPU 100% is a big issue?

  I usually take it seriously whenever there is a CPU spike or high usage. However, I notice that server is still alive with CPU near 100% for a few hours and even a couple days. So is it necessary to make a fuss of it, or should thanks to today’s technology CPU is more durable than before?

  It's normal for SQL Server to spike to 100%, but if it was more than 5-10 minutes, more than a query going hard, I'd be concerned about performance.
