Hi friends,
we are already having SQL server 2005 enterprise edition. How much do we need to spent to upgrade enterprise edition of 2005 to 2008?
Thanks,
Vijay

If you're under the support/maintenance contract you can upgrade SQL 2005 to 2008 without additional licence cost (or at least that applies to our contract)

when you purchased your 2005 licenses did you buy them with software assurance (SA) if so what SA period did you buy, 12 months, 24 months 36 months? If you are still within your SA period you can upgrade for no additional cost
do you have an enterprise agreement (EA, AKA Enterprise Enrollment) or an enrollment for application platform (EAP), if so you should be able to contact your EA/EAP provider and ask them when the licences where purchased and what SA term was given with them.
by default licenses do not come with SA this is an added benefit so your more than likely going to have to pay for an upgrade.
you could also email Microsoft and ask them if they will allow you to buy SA on top of the licenses you already have, as I know they sometimes let you do this, this will allow you to upgrade to 2008, they may say its £10k to add SA which is alot better than paying £30k for brand new 2008 licences
