Copying data sources from Sharepoint 2007 integrated to Sharepoint 2010 integrated

  • Hello,

We are migrating our SSRS 2008 reports running in integrated mode in Sharepoint 2007 to SSRS 2008 R2 integrated with Sharepoint 2010. We've had so many issues with our current set up, that I've decided to create a project in BIDS and re-deploy. While I can get the RDL files pretty easily (there are about 500), I can't figure out how move the RDS files. To quote Microsoft in this article:

"When you publish a shared data source (.rds) file to a SharePoint site, this changes the data source file to an .rsds file name extension. The .rsds file cannot be saved locally from a SharePoint site and imported into an existing Reporting Services project. Shared data sources with file name extensions .rds and .rsds are not interchangeable."

This seems like it should be a simple task to move files from one instance to another. I'm sure I am missing something pretty simple but it's eluding me!

    I'd appreciate any suggestions,

    Beth

  • I have an article on how to move the rdl files - which I adapted that very same method to export the data sources.

    You can find it here[/url].

Read the article - and then post back with questions.

  • Thanks Jason - giving it a try this week! Seems crazy i can't just copy down the files but I'll take the automation either way.
