Copy of database is much larger than the original

    Sorry if I missed this in the string of replies, but are the fill factors on your indexes the same? If that got changed in the new database, say OLD DB 100% and new 75%, it could cause you to use more space than the previous database.

    Sorry for taking so long to come back to this. I have been so swamped with other work I haven't had a chance to revisit this.

    Andy - I have checked within sysindexes and the fillfactor is in both cases set to 0 for all indexes, which apparently is using each page as fully as possible.
