copy database which has replication

  • Here is my total scenario. I have a database aa on server xxxx and it is a subscriber to that database aa on server yyyy.If i want to copy that database with copy database wizard on to another server zzzz itz saying that it's replication database.I have copied all the other databases from server xxxx to zzzz.So how should I copy this databse aa to the server zzzz using copy database wizard. Can i do this by stopping the replication b/w the two servers xxxx and yyyy? Or should I go for a full backup to tape and then restore on to the server zzzz.

    Thanks in advance.

  • This was tip a given to me a little while ago. Try changing the category id of the database to 0 sysdatabases in the master database.

  • CDW does a detach/copy, you can't detach (in a supported way) without dropping replication. You can alter system tables as posted to let you do it.
