Connection Error, very common

  • WE experecince this probelm now and then but i dont find any information in the sql or windows logs and I am sure we didtnt restart any service or killed any session, how can find the exact cause, this is very annoying as we lose the work we do in a sql session. Thanks.

    Msg 64, Level 20, State 0, Line 0

A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name is no longer available.)

  • It means you lost the connection. Could be anything from a bad cat-5 cable to a faulty router, any number of things.

  • It means some one killed your session or connection drop check connectivity or just re-open session or re-connect nothing to worry much.

  • Only nothing to worry about if it's not a hardware problem that's going to get worse. I'd at least run diagnostics on that.
