first off, this is the error:
----
[SQL-DMO]This server connection has been unexpectedly broken and cannot be reconnected
----
We have a DTS package, scheduled nightly, that has been running for over a year now, with modifications here and there... last modified 8-19-2002 with no problems since then.
When run this morning, it left the above error in the package log. In diagnosing, I received the same error, letter for letter, in traversing the package design view via enterprise manager. The server in question is on my intranet, I am not experiencing connection problems to the server...
However, seeing the error there tells me it's coming from the "local" (intranet) SQL server, rather than the remote server which data is pulled from in the DTS package.
After receiving this error for a 2nd time, I restart SQL services, and try again. This time I recieve a different, network related, error, so I reboot the machine in question.
After reboot, I run the DTS package again. This time, in the exact same step as the original error, I receive the subject error again.
Now I'm at a loss. The only thing that has changed to this server since the last version of the DTS package is a restart-services schedule we put the machine on in order to not have our ram and what not sucked up at the end of a week.
Google returns nothing for this error, as does MS knowledge base. There's one mention of it on deja/googleGroups, but it's a different problem, and now I'm at a loss.
Has anybody seen this error? Can anybody recommend a course of action?
TIA,
-jeff
