I have an old 16-bit C app which uses DBLIB to connect to SQL Server. With SQL Server 2000, on connecting, I get an error about half the time, such as "Unexpected EOF", or "Connect failed". I think these are from the DBLIB dll. When it works, it works fine. Any ideas? Timeouts? Uninitialized areas?

Have no experience with it. Does it work ok with SQL7? You might try setting the compatability back to 70 if so.

Have you tried an update MDAC that supports 2000 fully?

Sorry for the flubbed reply. I'm new at this board. Anyway, I have not had the problem with SQL Server 7, but maybe because I have a newer MDAC on my machine than the client has (ref. other reply). Thanks for responding.

Excellent suggestion. Will check tomorrow at my client. I don't get the problem, but they do, and I'm usually (always) more current than they are. Thanks!
