connecting database from different location

  • Dear all,

    we have 2 sqlserver2005's present in different locations in two different buildings . One in my building and another one in 2nd building.

    I should able to connect database present in sqlserver in another building through my server, through internet, we have windows xp on both , Is it possible to connect through INTERNET , if so whats the procedure. Pls help

  • connect in the sense "access the database " present in the server

  • Yes you can connect to the sql server provided you configure link server .refer BOL has for Link server configurations.

  • It is not a good procedure to expose your SQL server to the internet. If you are doing so, it would be a good idea to have a firewall up and all your service packs and CU's applied.
