I just setup a new Win2011 64bit SBS server which is now hosting our website (Was on an old 2003 server, where 2008 SQL was hosted on too). Some of the functions of our site need to access a SQL 2008 DB that's on a 2008 32bit SBS server. I'm having issues with it actually seeing the 32 bit machine. Should it see it or do I need something else?
Thanks for the help

Meaning you can't ping the other server?

Looks like I'm having more issues connecting to the 2008 sql server. Just tried connecting a new laptop and I'm getting errors while setting up ODBC connections. sql native client 10 sql server network interfaces error location server / instance specified..... Mind you I have about 8 other pc working fine

OK. I can't see from here what you see. You said you can't see the server. what does that mean? You can't connect? Are you getting error messages?

If you have other machines that can connect then it is most likely a connection string issue. If you can post the actual error message it would be helpful. I am going to guess that the exact error message is "SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified"?

I've been trying. Doesn't go through

Since you mentioned this is a webserver, did you add an exception to this machine for the ports that sql is using (default 1433)? I am guessing that your new server is in the DMZ. Are you referring to the server via name or IP?
