Configuring SQL Server to POP3 Server

  • When the Internet Profile is created using POP3 server and try to configure the SQL Server Mail to this profile it gives a message "Error 18025: xp_test_mapi_profile : failed with error 0x80004005"

The steps that have been followed is :

    1. Configure the Outlook client on the same machine as SQL Server is present

    2. Use this profile in the SQL Server Mail feature, by selecting from the list or typing it, under Support Services in Enterprise Manager.

    3. Press Test and the message should be of success.

This renders me the above mentioned error. I have updated my SQL Server 2000 with service pack 1 recently but still the problem is not solved.

If anybody have tried on similar lines please let me know ..

  • Starting from the top: Can you send and receive email from Outlook with the profile?

  • When testing Brian's suggestion, log into the server with the same account that SQL Server runs under.

  • I am able to send and recieve the mails from outlook and my profile is mapped to the mailing server so, there is no doubt that the profile does work.

I am logged into the user profile which starts SQL Server.

  • check the profile name... i had problems with the SQL Mail until I changed the name of my profile to something that was short and without any spaces in it.

  • I had the same problem and was able to solve it by making sure that the Profile name was one word as well.

  • I have configured SQL Mail to use a POP3 server by following these steps. It has been a while but this may help.

    1. If you can install the latest Service Pack for SQL Server 2000.

    2. Create an administrator account and use this account to run the SQLSERVERAGENT and MSSQLSERVER services.

    3. Log into the server using this account and install and configure the Outlook Client. Make sure you can send an email to the pop server using the profile you just created.

    4. Set SQL Mail to use the profile and click test.

  • My name is Eduardo, I have the same problem, I try to configured SQL Mail and not work.

I created the account into Control Panel\Mail, but not displayed into SQL SERVER
