Configure report server - error when trying to enter Initialization settings.

  • I'm trying to set up SQL 2005 Reporting Services.  I've installed everything OK, and have completed most of the Reporting Services configuration manager setup.  When I try to enter the Initialization setiings, I get an error: The encrypted value for the "LogonCred" configuration setting cannot be decrypted. (rsFailedToDecryptConfigInformation).

The online help fails to find anything on this.

I get the same error if I try to open the Report Server virtual directory.

  • Google groups on your error message gives a possible reason and a fix.

Suggests that you changed the account info for Reporting Service to run under and that information doesn’t match the info in REReportserver.config.  The fix is to rerun rsconfig and rskeymgmt.

  • Thanks for the info.  When I installed, for some reason it thought it wasn't a local install, and so wouldn't do a default install.  I had to run the Reporting Services configuration GUI later.  That may be where the difference came from.

I'm going to try to re-install and re-set the accounts.
