Has anybody had any luck with configuring a linked server to go from MSSQL 2005 to Sybase? We are running 64 bit MSSQl on a HP Itanium box under Windows 2003. We've tried installing the 32-bit Sybase odbc drivers and 32 and 64 bit drivers from Data Direct. Nothing we've tried works. SOS!!

We're in the same boat. Gotta make SQL2005 talk to Sybase -- arrgh!

We tried last November, first with Beta SW and then with GA... it would not work properly and we had two Sybase "guru's" on the premises with a marketing guy. They were worthless. The third guy they sent was smart enough; but still no solutions. You might expect things to progress in almost a year; but, alas, seems not. I still keep in touch with that client and the guy who inherited my code... and the three issues with Sybase that were there then, are there now. (and I'm guessing that somewhere up the management change you know who is being blamed for it).
Thank-you,

On another Sybase subject, not linked servers; but odbc/jdbc driver usage... we got two separate DBs to connect to ASA (9.0) DBs and could query them; but even though it said we had DB "a" and DB "b"... they were both "a"... When I added a third DB and removed the first one, the two were actually "a" and "b" as desired.
One of thes Sybase "Guru's" said "we do not recommend that you connect to more than one DB at a time in ASA... that's not what it was made for"...
They also blammed the "beta" software... which turned out NOT to be the problem. This situation persisted with GA.
yeah, right.
Thank-you,
