I have a clustered instance of SQL Server 2008 x64 Enterprise Edition. When I run SQL Server Configuration Manager and select SQL Server Services, the window displays "Requesting Data from WMI Provider..." for several minutes. After 15 minutes or so, the window will finally display only the SQL Server Browser service. I don't see any relevant messages in the application or security log.
Google isn't helping me much on this one. I could use any suggestions.

Are you running this on a passive node?
The article may help you:

I have the same issue on both the active and the passive node. That article doesn't address the issue I'm having. I tried the command line argument but it didn't help.

I am having another issue that I think may have the same root cause. When I try to install the AdventureWorks sample databases from codeplex.com, the installer hangs at the point where it's apparently looking for local SQL Server instances.
