Am I the only one dismayed that online indexing is not included in Standard Edition!!

Hi,
I found a similar article
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinfo/features/compare-features.mspx
that have another point of view about Data Mining:
for Standard and Enterprise Edition is the some explanation:
"Nine algorithms including decision and regression trees, clustering, logistic and linear regression, neural networks, naive bayes, association, sequence clustering, and time series. Build smarter reports that leverage centralized business logic and KPIs, as well as the performance of UDM."
In your article(wrote in february, that above in november) is a difference:
Standard has only 2 algorithms and Enterpris 5.
Let me understand, in the last moment, Microsoft changed this options ?

I might be missing something, but it seems to me the Report Builder is available starting with the Workgroup edition:

Correct me if I'm wrong but Reporting Services & BI development server is available for free with SQL Server Express with Advanced Services.
You can't get data from external sources (ODBC etc.) with the express version but the rest is *much* the same.

The article states the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition supports Import/Export - however, Microsoft's own comparison - http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinfo/features/compare-features.mspx - shows that Import/Export is NOT supported (that is also my experience).
Could you please explain why this article shows import/export-support for Express and, if it is wrong, please correct the information.

Gavin, I'm afraid this article is a bit dated. They came out with that announcement right after I wrote this a while ago. Yes, Reporting Services is supported up and down the entire edition stack now, including Express.

In WSUS 3.0 Beta the installer offered another SQL 2005 version you haven't reported on, Embedded Edition. Could you please clarify what this actually is? Is this just Express or Workgroup in disquise or is it an even further reduced feature set of these offerings?
Otherwise this is great information.

Microsoft recently bought ProClarity. Has it been decided how MS will make the ProClarity tools available?

Just confused here about a small detail... I read in another article that the express version could do more than 10 operations at the same time and now in this article I see that the query governor is gone.. can I get more info on this matter?

Thank you for compiling this concise picture of what the licensing options are for SQL 2005!

Brian,
Thanks for the information-packed article! I have one question about the memory though. Now that Standard Edition supports unlimited RAM, do you have to use the AWE option to tell SQL Server to access more than 2GB of RAM? What about the Enterprise Edition? Does this differ between 32 and 64 bit editions too?
Thanks,
Jason

I was wondering about the Best Practices Analyzer.
Where is that located in SQL Server 2005.

Brian,
One more question. Say you install SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on a quad proc dual-core server (8 total procs). Will SQL Server use all 8 in this case or just 4?
